Authorities have launched the “Protect yourselves by modifying your status” initiative

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has called on all immigrants on job seekers visa to regularize their status in accordance with the law. The temporary six-month visa does not require a sponsor.

Individuals obtaining temporary visa should transfer their residency under a sponsor or leave the country before expiration of the visa to avoid penalties including fines, imprisonment and deportation. A fine of AED 100 for the first day, followed by a fine of AED 25 for every day of delay will be imposed. Citizens, investors and residents should make sure to transfer the visa under their sponsorship before they hire a person to avoid a fine of AED 50,000.

To avoid violation of law, state is taking initiative for intense search and prosecution campaign by which the violators may be imposed fines, jail time and deportation. Authorities have launched the “Protect yourselves by modifying your status” initiative and included exemptions to all violators of the visa law to encourage them to resolve their situation and benefit from the services provided by the country.
