GDRFA has appointed a special committee to evaluate the applications for the UAE’s gold card

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai (GDRFA) recently shared all the details about its new 10-year residency scheme which can be availed via the gold card. This scheme has been availed by 400 expatriates by far. Below are the details about this new scheme.

What is a Gold Card?

It is a residency card issued for 10 years for investors, entrepreneurs, specialized talents, researchers and outstanding students, and their families.

Who can apply for it?

This scheme can be availed by UAE-based investors, entrepreneurs, high-salaried executive managers, professional talents, researchers in various fields of science and knowledge, and outstanding students as well as the ones based outside the country.

What is the procedure, cost and timeline for approval?

GDRFA has appointed a special committee to evaluate the applications on a case-by-case basis and the gold card is said to have a waiting period of around 45 minutes. However, the costs have yet to be officially released.

Can the recipient stay outside UAE and is it renewable?

Yes, the individual does not have to follow the rule that residents cannot be outside UAE for more than six consecutive months. Once availed, the card can be renewed every 10 years.
