Expatriates are welcoming a new change to the sponsorship policy in UAE. A Cabinet Decision No. 30 of 2019 was approved earlier this year and came into effect on Sunday, 14th of July. It covers new policy for UAE residents to sponsor their family members irrespective of their gender, profession and solely based on their incomes.
A UAE resident, whether male or female, can now sponsor their family if they earn a monthly salary of AED 4,000/- or at least AED 3,000 plus accommodation provided by the company, according to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC). Family members include spouse, sons under the age of 18 and unmarried daughters.
Nasser bin Thani Juma Al Hamli, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, previously remarked “that the decision of the UAE Cabinet to consider the income of foreign workers that apply to bring their family members to the country, rather than their profession, will improve the family lives and social ties of private sector workers.”
