The Dubai Healthcare City Authority has announced a new 2-year “Visitor Doctor’s License”. This license will allow international physicians, dentists as well as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practitioners to enter UAE. They can work in up to three clinics within the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) Free Zone.
The 2-year period would start running after they obtain the Letter of Acceptance and enter into a contract with a clinical facility. The Letter of Acceptance is a document that would confirm their eligibility to work as physicians. They will also be able to sponsor their families while the license is valid.
Currently, visiting doctors can practice temporarily in the free zone through a license obtained by the clinical facilities, which is valid for a three-month-period; with the option to extend by an additional three months only.
However, eligible healthcare professionals will now be able to apply for the 2-year license starting from January 20, 2019. A special fee rate will also be available from January 20 to January 31, as a part of Arab Health’s promotion, the largest exhibition for healthcare and trade professionals in the Middle East.
This new license is expected to achieve flexibility and mobility for global, high-caliber physicians wishing to work in Dubai. This move is expected to be one of the main pillars for transformation of Dubai’s medical system.
