Starting February 4, 2018, all new employees to the UAE (including domestic workers) are required to produce a “Good Conduct and Behavior Certificate” from their home countries, or from the countries in which they have lived and worked in the past five years.
The certificates must be legalized up to the UAE Consulate in the place of issue, and authenticated by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This requirement is not applicable for the new employee’s family, tourists, students and people who come to the UAE on medical or mission visas.
A committee made up of representatives of the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, and Human Resources and Emiratisation said in a statement “the new procedure is part of the UAE Government’s efforts to achieve the highest level of security for those residing in the country, in a secure, peaceful and happy community”.
