Law No. (26) of 2021 was recently issued regarding the Notary Public in Dubai, which subsequently amends Law No. (4) of 2013.
An electronic notary public system was introduced in the amending law where regular Notary Public duties will be performed automatically through e-Notary services, as part of Dubai’s smart government initiative. The amendment also sets out the required qualifications through which a UAE citizen can acquire a license to carry out the duties of a Notary Public. Notary Public companies which employ licensed individual Notary Publics are required to notify the Dubai courts of the same. Notary Publics are mandatorily required to register themselves with the Dubai courts through the procedure set out in the amendment.
The amendment further sets out the need for the creation of a Notary Public Affairs Committee which is to include at least one judge from the Dubai Courts.
