1. BACKGROUND
Dubai Media City (DMC) was built by the Dubai government to establish UAE’s media foothold. Since its official opening in 2001, it has fast become a regional hub for media organizations including news agencies, publishing, online media, advertising, production, and broadcast facilities. The business park offers an environment for media companies and individuals to operate with collective synergy and freedom while enjoying value added services such as networking opportunities, venue management services, industry building programs and government services. DMC has become a major hub with more around 1,500 companies being registered under the Free Zone, from where they serve the entire region, with around 142 nationalities and 25000+ workforce.
DMC is regulated by an independent government body, Dubai Creative Clusters Authority (‘DCCA’) which is responsible for the establishment and registration of companies in the free zone. DCCA develops and implements transparent regulations, in accordance with international standards, which ensure that the companies operating in the free zone can compete effectively and globally.
