The UAE Cabinet approved the cancellation of the decision extending residency visas and Emirates IDs until Dec 2020 for expatriates whose visas and IDs expired after 1st March 2020.

The UAE Cabinet approved the cancellation of the decision extending residency visas and Emirates IDs until Dec 2020 for expatriates whose visas and IDs expired after 1st March 2020. The resolution will come into effect from July 11th, 2020.

Also, the UAE Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) shall start collecting regular fees and fines due on services provided as of July 12th, 2020.

Expatriates and GCC citizens who are inside the country are granted three months to update their residency status. Those who are outside the country (for less than six months) are granted one month to update their residency from the date of returning to the UAE.

For citizens who are outside the UAE with expired visas after March 1st, 2020 or have exceeded six months outside the country shall be granted 21 days, from the date of obtaining a re-entry permit, to return to the UAE.
