The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) was established in 2002, with a mandate to provide the physical, market and financial infrastructure required to set up a commodities market place in Dubai. It offers a unique opportunity for market participants in a wide range of commodities industries in four broad sectors including precious commodities (gold, diamonds, coloured stones and pearls), energy related sectors (Liquid Natural Gas (LNG), reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and development of oil storage infrastructure and plastics), Steel and Base metals and Soft agricultural commodities (tea, cotton and others).

DMCC is the master developer and licensing authority for the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) Free Zone, one of the largest mixed use free zone developments in Dubai. Situated in the heart of new dubai and serviced by two metro stations within the community, the JLT free zone is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, the main arterial connecting Dubai and Abu Dubai, and in close proximity to Jebel Ali Free Zone and ports, Al Maktoum International Airport, and Dubai Logistics Corridor.

Until January 2014, the DMCC Authority offered two types of licenses: DMCC and JLT. DMCC Free Zone companies operate in the commodities and related sectors, while JLT Free Zone companies operate across non-commodities related sectors. From February 2014, the authority licenses all activities under the one DMCC license. All companies previously licensed under the JLT license will progressively transfer to a DMCC license.

DMCC offers the following types of Licenses-

  • Trade License
  • Service License
  • Industrial License


  • Flexi-Desk (sharing) and Full time Desk Service (up to 3 visas)- shared and networked workstations. Flexi Desks are available for 4 hours a week and a maximum of 16 hours a month, which are ideal for self-employed businessmen, small businesses or professionals newly entering the UAE market or not requiring a permanent office space.
  • Serviced Office (up to 4 to 5 visas)- These are fully serviced offices available on an annual rent basis
  • Physical Office for lease / sale are available starting from AED 80 sq. ft. per year and AED 700 sq. ft. respectively
  • Warehouses- are available with DMCC’s partner- The Box Self Storage
  • Land- JLT is already developed. However, a limited number of land plots are still available for development.
